Together, we will future-proof the Horticultural Industry of Western Australia

About Us

Who we are...

HortConnectWA aims to bring together like-minded young horticulture professionals to engage in social and professional networking.

It’s about connecting growers and young professionals, helping them share knowledge and innovative ideas, create valuable professional networks and empower them to “own” the sector, which has traditionally been dominated by an older demographic.

Events + Activities
  • Regional Workshops and Sundowners

  • Annual Industry Summit

  • Conferences

  • Annual End of Year celebration

  • AgConnectWA events including Heart of WA and annual Cocktail Party

What we do...

An initiative of vegetablesWA, WA Potatoes, WA Citrus Pomewest and WA Stonefruit HortConnectWA will collaborate, share information and offer professional development across the West Australian horticulture industry.

The Team

Meet the team! Our dedicated team of young professionals and growers are here to assist you with anything you need. We asked them, what about HortConnectWA excites you most?

Catrin Evans

Moora Citrus, Operations Manager

Moora Citrus produces oranges and mandarins, delivering citrus to the local market across eight months of each production year. On HortConnectWA, Catrin says, "It's a good chance to be with a group of people around my age, with a similar level of experience in the industry."

Mitchell East

Willarra Gold, Grower

Mitchell works alongside his family growing broccoli, avocado & passionfruit at Willarra Gold in Manjimup. "I’m really excited about HortConnectWA as it will give so many newcomers to the industry access to valuable events and resources. The networking opportunities are fantastic because making strong connections can make all the difference in a competitive industry."

Sam Grubisa

vegetablesWA

Sam is a 3rd generation vegetable grower in Carabooda and worked full time with her Dad and Uncle on the property. Sam had the Farm Operations Manager role until 2 years ago when she started working for the industry within vegetablesWA as the Industry Extension Officer. Sam is passionate about ensuring the industry continues and is a valuable ambassador as she has first hand experience of working within a family farm.

Joel Dinsdale

vegetablesWA

Joel has had a range of roles in the agriculture sector since graduating from Curtin University with a BSc (Applied Science) Viticulture and Oenology. Joel worked in viticulture throughout various wineries in Australia and has first hand experience working on farm. He has supported growers in the Quality Assurance domain since 2013 while working for the Potato Marketing Corporation of Western Australia. Joel is well known in the industry throughout horticulture and we look forward to being able to hardness his passion and extend the industry going forward.

Mat Fox

RK & J Fox and Son, Grower

Mat works alongside his family growing a range of apple varieties including kanzi, fuji and pink lady at their orchard called Brookside.

Michael Della Pollina

Grower

Michael is a third generation Orchardist in Pickering Brook working alongside his Dad and Uncle, to manage 90 acres of orchard.
